I am a 19 yr old guy. I recently cut my long hair short and ever since have been struggling with dandruff and when I say dandruff i mean a LOT of dandruff. However since i cut my hair short i stopped conditioning it since I felt shampooing it would be enough. Could this be a cause of dandruff ?

Yes it could be. Try using a shampoo and conditioner for dandruff. Like selsum blue...I know that it works.

well your hair naturally contains oil. and probably when you cut your hair, your cut down your oil amount too. dandruff is actually a bacteria that causes flaking of the scalp. so you either have dandruff or dry scalp. try using conditioner again. if that doesn't work use a dandruff shampoo.
