I have long hair, too, near to my waist. It took me a long time to grow and I'd never let someone else dictate my style.

With long hair you have a lot more style options than with short. Virtual websites are good but they're not real. Go to your mirror and start playing with different styles: French roll, braiding, upsweep, pinned back, etc, etc. My favorite (I've worn this to the San Francisco Opera how many times!) is a modified French roll: Pull hair straight back from face leaving a few wisps on temples and over ears, roll up loosening as you go and pulling a few strands evenly out at neck. Roll up semi-tightly folding hair under and flattening out as you roll. Pin roll under with jeweled hairpins, loosening more hair around face if you need to. Pretty, pretty!

Do this style and NOONE will tell you to cut your hair...they'll want yours!

Well, it depends. If people are telling U to cut it, the they think your hair is long and ugly, but if u think your hair is pretty, well then Ok.

Being a guy, i like women who have shoulder length hair. Shorter is not bad, but real short hair i am not a fan of. Real long hair, for example all the way to your butt, is to long for my taste. mid back is on the longer end of my preferences.

I know that there are web-sites that you can upload a photo of yourself, and try different hairstyles to see what suits you. If you have a hairdresser, call and ask if he/she has the web address. If not, type it into your tool bar and see what pops up.

If you have long hair, I think that cutting it to rest at about shoulder length looks good on anybody, but don't layer the front to be shorter than your chin.keep that as close to the shoulders as possible without weighing your face down.

I had long hair too. I loved my hair everyone always told me how beautiful it was. Well I got a new job so I wanted a new hairstyle to go with it. If you like your hair keep it tell everyone else to deal with it. I soooo regret cutting mine.

I had long hair. I cut it really short, and I loved it. Now I'm letting it grow out again. It's all in what you want. Never do something just because someone else wants you to. Try wearing your hair pulled back for several days in a row, see if you like the look. Short hair is very easy to style, but you do have to have it trimmed more often. And if you color it, you have to recolor it much more often. But only do what you like. It will take time to grow it back out once its cut.

I think (if your hair is really long), you should cut it and donate it to (a really great organization) "Locks of Love". They will use it to make a wig for a child that has cancer and receiving treatments. This is a great way to try a new "look" for you and help a child (that would really appreciate your "new look"). You need to do what you want to do. I used to have long hair as well and I cut it just above my shoulders last summer. About a month went by and I wanted my long hair back-so I got extensions.

So, if you do decide to cut your hair, I hope you like it-if not then be patient and let it grow back out...or be impatient (like me) and prepared to spend a lot of money on extensions (which I might add are well worth it!) No matter what you choose, make sure you do it because YOU want to, not because others think you should.
