(altho I got a rather dramatic trim recently... and love it)

I try and keep it purple!! But they discontinued my Loreal Feria #22. My hair is in beautiful condition and it looks GREAT.

I think that is the reason..older hair=dry=frizzy?? If I felt it was in very poor condition, I would do whatever I needed to to end it.

I don't think age means anything when it comes to the length of hair. As long as the hair is'nt horrid and damaged it's fine.

I think its up to you. If you like the way you look with long hair, then who cares what other people think. Personally I think long hair makes people look younger. Maybe all the ladies telling you to cut are just jealous because they want you to look as old as they do.

if they like their hair long keep it long you only live your life once and if you think it looks good you keep it that way but you can always cut it if you want.

I guess it depends on what type of 45 yr old you are. On average, I'd say it's time to cut your long locks off around 40 or so, not saying you're ready for a nursing home, but it can make you look older while you're trying to look younger. So, I'd have to agree with you're analysis.

there is no law saying that they should......they are old enough to for the wind to chance and they shall too!!!!.......meaning whenever they feel like cutting or keeping it long.....they will!!!

theres something humorous going through my group of friends recently. after one of our teachers got married, she chopped all her hair off (and shes only 25). it seems that every time someone gets married, it gets chopped! lol. i dont think it should be that way at all. after you start having kids and marraiges and more things to worry about, women just dont want to have to deal with their hair anymore, so they cut it into a short style they can manage in less then 10 minutes.

if the woman isnt swamped enough to take time out to do their hair every day, and if it actually LOOKS good on them, then i dont think there should be an age where it has to come off.

I think it's a personal choice, although, a short haircut can make an "older" woman look younger and vice-versa.

Who ever made up the rule that older women should wear shorter hair, had absolutely nothing to do one day, so came up with a funky rule.

Women vary across the spectrum, as well as their appearances. If a woman's lenghty hair is becoming to her appearance, then that's what works.

I think a woman over the age of 30 has earned the right to do exactly what she pleases with her hair, her body, her mind and her life. Some women look good with long hair, some with short, and age doesn't really make any difference.

WhyNot!!! If they like it that's all that matters. I'm older then that and my hair is past my waist.

This rule is ridiculous and outdated. You should wear your hair however you like. I don't know why people say short hair makes you look younger, I think it often does the opposite. Longer hair is great as it disguises imperfections and softens the features.

I think the only people who say cut your hair short when you reach middle age are teenagers, who think anyone over 30 is past it and older women that conform to the rule, because they didn't have the confidence to keep their own hair longer.

I think long hair that is in great condition is beautiful at any age. Of course if it is flat and lifeless, it won't look so great. It needs volume and colour to look good, so put some highlights and layers in your hair and it will look amazing, but chopping it all off because it is deemed appropriate is like giving up IMO.
